  2. forgot who I stole this from: Back when it was the Personal Department, they were dealing with people and trying to do the best for both sides. now, HR is just more raw resources to be strip mined.

    • Nope. The name change had nothing to do with it- indeed (and ironically) the name change was supposed to stop managers thinking of Personnel as just a cost.(it worked. they simply decided to stripmine ALL resources)- they were always ultimately on the companys’ side. That’s why one situation where HR can actually be extremely useful for an employee is when a manager has gone rogue doing illegal things- because it minimises the company’s liability.
